Samantha LaFay Corey
June 28, 2006 - Jan 11, 2024Samantha LaFay Corey passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. She was 17.
Samantha was born in Orem, UT on June 28, 2006 to Benjamin and Kimberly Corey. For most of her life she went by Mantha. She was a senior at American Fork High School.
Samantha had to fight through many physical ailments in her short life. Despite these trials she found a way to be happy and thrive. She will always be remembered by family and friends for her sweet smile.
Samantha found her passion when she discovered volleyball. She loved playing on school and club teams, but especially loved beach volleyball. One of her favorite pastimes was watching Boston Celtics games with her dad. After her cancer diagnosis and treatment, she enjoyed new hobbies like drawing, Lego sets, and playing video games with her family. She also loved being around little children and truly enjoyed spending time with them even when she had little energy.
Samantha had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which was only strengthened during her fight with an aggressive form of Rhabdomyosarcoma. She learned through study and prayer to trust deeply in the plan that her Father in Heaven had prepared for her.
Samantha is survived by her parents, Benjamin & Kimberly; siblings, Asher, and Zoey; her grandparents, David & Karrol Corey, Barry & Sandra Anderton; and many extended family members.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, January 19th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the American Fork Hillcrest Stake Center located at 165 N 350 W, American Fork, Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 am. The family has requested that those attending Samantha’s Funeral Service to please be seated by 10:45 am. Interment will take place in the American Fork City Cemetery.
