Cheryl Roundy

 

Cheryl Ann Roundy, age 60, passed away January 6, 2024. Cheryl was born July 14, 1963, in Provo, Utah, to Max Liston and Dorothy Leone Ellsworth Roundy. Her parents and brothers lovingly cared for her at home until it was determined her needs could be better met at the Utah State Developmental Center (USDC). Cheryl has resided there since 1971, and worked shredding documents and as a greeter. Her upbeat personality, friendly demeanor, and contagious smile brightened the day of all those with whom she associated.

She had a special fondness for her mother's lasagna and chocolate cake, fresh-squeezed orange juice, caring for her baby doll, swimming, outings and parties, opening gifts, and being with family. Her eyes lit up with joy whenever she saw or wore beautiful jewelry, and she took great delight in wearing nice clothes, especially if they were pink or purple, and having her beautiful long auburn hair styled. She had a twinkle in her eye and liked to tease her friends and loved one. She enjoyed music and singing, especially her favorite song, "I Am a Child of God".

Cheryl is survived by her brothers, James (Margaret), Evan (Melanie), and Frank (Kristi) Roundy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Dorothy; and her niece, Alyssa Roundy.

Funeral services will be held on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the USDC Chapel, 835 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the same location from 9:45-10:45 AM. Cheryl will be laid to rest at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the staff of the Utah State Developmental Center for the dedicated, selfless love and kindness they have shown Cheryl. Her caregivers have gone far beyond what might be expected, and have been like family to her. We cannot adequately express our gratitude for the many years of loving service so many have given, and the comfort it has brought us to know she was happy and well cared for.

Cheryl's positive spirit, love for life, and joyous nature will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, and the things we learned and experienced because of her. As we celebrate her life, we are comforted in knowing she is now free from the limitations of her body and is joyously reunited with her parents and other loved ones in a place of rest and peace.
