Sandra Jean Jensen passed away on February 25, 2024 at the age of 80. She died of complications of a massive stroke.

Sandra was born June 20, 1943 in American Fork, Utah, to Jean Parker and Leon Scott. She had one brother, Robert Scott, who preceded her in death.

After Sandra graduated from American Fork High School, she went to New York City to work as a nanny for a year. She loved the opportunity to see Broadway plays while living there. She returned to Utah and attended Utah State University, where she graduated with a degree in social work. She received her teaching certification from Brigham Young University and later earned a Masters from Regis University in Colorado.

While studying at Utah State, Sandra married Richard Boothe. They were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer. They later divorced.

Sandra supported her family by teaching second grade at Shelley Elementary school. Years later, Sandra married a widower named Gary Jensen who had four children-- Elizabeth, Melanie, Stacey and Paul. She loved her step children and felt blessed to have married into this family.

Gary, Sandra and their family lived in California for a few years, then moved to Boulder, Colorado. Both Gary and Sandra worked for the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Sandra worked in purchasing and Gary was the manager of the computer center there. This allowed both of them to do a lot of travel as she accompanied him on his business trips. They visited many places in the United States and Europe.

After being in Boulder for 20 years, they moved to American Fork, Utah to help care for Sandra's mom Jean Peters. Sandra did some substitute teaching before taking a job as a para-educator in the Life Skills class at American Fork High School. She loved working with these special students.

Sandra was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings. She served as both the ward and Stake Young Women's president. She also served in the Relief Society Presidency and later served for 20 years in the Mount Timpanogos temple.

Sandra suffered a stroke on Valentines day. She was recovering when, about ten days later, she suffered a massive stroke. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on February 25, 2024

She is survived by children, Jennifer McRae (Rhys deceased), Elizabeth Nelson (Dave), Melanie Johnson (Scott), Stacey Genta (Tom), and Paul Jensen (Alison.) She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Alvin Jensen; brother, Bob Scott; son in law, Rhys McRae; grandson, Eric Nelson; and great grandson, Joseph Grant.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Hillcrest 1st Ward chapel located at 949 N 540 W, American Fork, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday, March 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Utah Valley Mortuary, 1966 W 700 N, Lindon, Utah, and prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 am, at the church. Interment will take place in the American Fork City Cemetery.
