A Weekend With My Girls

We 4 moms had a nice relaxing weekend.  We flew with the bew airline Aveo via Ogden Airport to California.
Leslie and Kristie grew up in Simi.  We stopped @ both of their old homes.
The introduced me to Tommy's.   Best chilli cheeseburger/fries I've ever had.

After dinner, we stopped @ Kristie's friend's house, and borrowed some boogie boards.  They had a grapefruit tree in their yard.  So cool!
We stayed @ The Holiday Inn near Port Hueneme Beach

The pool was closed "due to covid," but they gave us a yummy continental breakfast

We were only a 5 min walk to the beach!

The next morning we rode an awesome bicycle.  You can fit 6 adults and 2 children.  I told Aaron it should be our next vehicle purchase.  😊

Yikes!  We saw a dead opossum and 5 little babies in the road.  😔

It wasn't the warmest day at the beach.  Very overcast and a lot of wind.  The bike ride warmed us up though, so we went for it.  We basically had the beach to ourselves!

Kristie and I rode the waves until our feet became numb.  Both of us laid on our tummies and slept.  I didn't think the sun was out enough to get burned, but the back of our legs are bad.
We got dinner from a food truck.  Yummy chicken and steak tacos...
And strawberries with cream.
The next day we ate breakfast and checked out.  We stopped at another beach called Silver Strand Beach.  It was beautiful and parking was free.  Several people were learning how to surf.
Oh how I love the beach!
We wanted some more authentic Mexican food.  We stopped here @ Taqueria La Fogata.
Our food was delicious!

Then we stopped at Sam's Club for a treat.
Their sundaes are amazing!

California has a lot of fun stores that I've never seen.  One was Smart & Final extra.
They also have a lot of fruit stands.  We stopped at a couple and bought avocados, oranges, cherries, strawberries,  and these cute little grape sized oranges called kumquats.
We returned the boogie boards that we'd borrowed.  Thanks Natalie!  Made a stop to a store called Aldi.  Then we went to our hotel.
We spent the rest of the evening watching the Food Channel.
The next morning we checked out at 8:30 and headed back to the airport.  We turned in our skunky equinox  🤭
And flew home.
Antelope island
Andrew called as we were driving home.  His phone calls are always a happy spot in my day.  It was fun sharing that time with my friends.
