We had an exciting sacrament meeting to say the least. Mason had a lot of family and friends come to hear his homecoming address. So many that we ended up sitting back in the gym. While Mason was speaking he looked down to the right in the audience and paused. I wasn't sure what he was looking at? He began speaking again and then paused a second time. All of the sudden several people got up and we saw Brother Shorten get carried into the hallway. Aaron and I jumped up and followed. We saw our friend Tyson a couple other men help him lay down on the floor. Tyson quickly removed his shirt. Brother Shorten wasn't breathing and Tyson couldn't feel a pulse, so he gave him a compression. I grabbed his R wrist and Aaron touched his neck. We both felt a pulse so Tyson stopped. Brother Shorten began to come to. He started sweating profusely, but he was able to speak. We wiped his forehead with a handkerchief and let him know that his wife was close by. We also told him that an ambulance was on the way. A policeman Arrived and then shortly thereafter the ambulance crew. Tyson gave them report and they asked everyone but family to leave. I am happy to report that he is home! They said his potassium level was severely low, which likely put him in a pulses rhythm (Torsades). He got a couple treatments of IV potassium. What a blessing.
I worked a grave Saturday night, so I didn't join the party at the Richins' home.
We're so proud of your willingness to serve the Lord, Mason. Well done!
