Slippery Roads Are No Fun!

Monday night was a pretty emotional night for me. My family and I were driving on main street in Lehi towards home when I hit a patch of ice. I tried to pump my breaks, but I couldn't get control of my van. I didn't want to hit the car in front of me, so I veared off to the right. I went down a small hill towards a fence. A large wooden post went up through the hood of my van and stopped us. No one was hurt (Thank goodness), and luckily, a policeman and a tow truck weren't very far down the road. I'm upset that the accident happend, but I'm so grateful that everyone was okay.

Thank Goodness For My Kids

Yesterday after I got home from work, my son asked me to go downstairs. I asked him what was wrong, and he told me he needed to show me something. I went downstairs with him and he took me to one of the windows. "Look Mom," he said. "We have a pool in our window." My heart jumped out of my chest. I quickly ran over to the other windows. The other side of the basement was completely flooded! The water had filled up so high, that it just started leaking through one of the windows. I grabbed Aaron and we quickly went to work. we got out our shop vac and sucked out as much water from each window as we could. Aaron has had kidney stones and I am pregnant, so we probably looked pretty pathetic, but we were able to stop the flooding. After we'd cleaned up most of the mess, Andrew stated, "It's a good thing you guys fixed that, now we can have family home evening." We missed family home evening on Monday, and so Andrew volunteered to plan it. Aaron and I were both tired, but we decided we'd better follow through. Aaron told Andrew he should make a list. Here is what he came up with.
My picture isn't easy to read. This is what it says:

My Weekend of Freedom

As many of you know, the past few months have been really hectic for Aaron and I. Aaron lost his job in October, so we'vehad to make some adjustments at our house. I picked up a second job and Aaron has been working towards setting up his own practice. Both of us work so hard that we rarely see each other.
This past weekend Aaron went to a chiropractic seminar in Las Vegas. I didn't want to attempt to find a babysitter, so I took work off for the entire weekend. May I just say, I had so much fun. I didn't anything super exciting. I helped my kids get ready for school, I cleaned my house, I took my daughter to gymnastics and my son to basketball, I cooked a roast with mashed potatoes and gravy! I love being a mom. -What a blessing it is. Here are some pics from my son's game. Andrew going up for his lay-up.

Brody was so good at the game. He sat in his chair and played his leapster.

The Discovery Place

Last Friday, Aaron and I took our kids to The Discovery Place at the Gateway. We had a really great time. If you've never been, I really recommend it. There are a ton of hands-on activities for kids. Here are some pictures from our day.Brody
